The Chair will take the lead in the chair’s educational tasks within the department and the faculty, contributing to curriculum development. He or she will also make substantive contributions to teaching at the BSc, MSc and post-graduate levels and will supervise PhD students. The Chair is expected to acquire and conduct scientific research projects and to partner in (inter)national research projects, as well as to publish in prominent, international scientific journals, conferences and national professional media publications. The Professor will be responsible for daily management of the Chair and will maintain and develop relationships with the professional field, both nationally and internationally.

Applicants should have the following qualifications:
• Academic education in garden design and landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning or another relevant subject;
• Demonstrable leadership in research on an academic level, as shown by research track record, high-quality publications and doctoral degree;
• Outstanding didactic abilities and experience in setting up an educational programme;
• Ability to further expand the link between research and education;
• Demonstrable expertise in the field of landscape architecture, specifically in urban areas;
• Ability to contribute to the theoretical formation of landscape architectural designs;
• Good relations with other disciplines and in particular with Architecture and Urbanism;
• Knowledge of digital technology (GIS, CAD, DTP, etc.) to develop ‘digital culture’ in the field of landscape architecture;
• Good leadership and management abilities;
• Good international contacts in the world of landscape architecture;
• Cooperative attitude, good social skills;
• Outstanding spoken and written communication skills in English and the willingness to learn Dutch.
