PROFESSORSHIP DESIGN THEORY (Regensburg, DE)
With over 10,500 students, 220 professors and 450 staff, OTH Regensburg is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Bavaria. In the Faculty of Architecture, at the earliest possible opportunity, a professorship in salary bracket W2 is to be filled for the following subject area: artistic design.
In order to enhance its academic profile, the Faculty of Architecture is seeking an individual who is strong in discourse, communicative and internationally active, to represent the field of theories pertaining to design, art and architecture, in teaching and research.
The successful applicant shall introduce the students to theoretical aspects of design/theories of design. They shall initiate contemporary discourses and vividly anchor these within the teaching. Alongside a wide-ranging background in the history of design and architecture, they shall also have demonstrably produced journalistic articles and academic publications on design-related issues. The scope of work encompasses the supervision of industrial design projects. The requirements include taking charge of courses within the Faculty of Architecture’s degree programmes and a willingness to conduct courses in English as well.
We are seeking a dedicated individual who is looking forward to incorporating expertise and professional experience into the teaching and training of students. The university OTH Regensburg adheres to the concept of intensive supervision of students and therefore expects teachers to have a strong presence at the university.
In addition, we expect involvement in applied research, technology transfer, knowledge transfer and continuing education, as well as a willingness to play a role in the university’s self-administration. The employment prerequisites are as follows:
– completed course of tertiary study, preferably in design or architecture
– special proficiency in academic work, generally to be verified by the quality of a doctorate
– pedagogical aptitude; to be verified by means of a trial class etc
– verification of special accomplishments in applying or developing academic findings and methods during a period of at least five years of relevant professional practice after the completed course of tertiary study. Including at least three years spent outside the academic sector; in special cases, verification of professional practice outside the academic sector can be provided by demonstrating that during a period of at least five years. A significant component of the applicant’s professional activity took place in cooperation between a tertiary institution and professional practice outside the academic sector
