PROFESSOR OF URBAN DESIGN (Delft, NL)
The Chair will take the lead in the chair’s educational tasks within the department and the faculty, contributing to curriculum development. He or she will also make substantive contributions to teaching at the BSc, MSc and post-graduate levels and will supervise PhD students. The Chair is expected to acquire and conduct scientific research projects and to partner in (inter)national research projects, as well as to publish in prominent international scientific journals, conferences and national professional media publications. The Professor will be responsible for daily management of the Chair and maintain and develop relationships with the professional field, both nationally and internationally.
We are looking to recruit an internationally leading urban designer, as shown by his/her portfolio, with a university education in urbanism or another relevant design programme. The candidate has the ability to contribute to the formation of urban planning and design theory in relation to architecture, landscape architecture, sustainable development and hydrological, ecological and civil engineering conditions. The candidate possesses a good network of contacts in the fields of urbanism, landscape architecture, and/or architecture. He or she has demonstrable research experience, as shown by his/her research record (publications) and, preferably, a doctoral degree. Furthermore, the candidate has excellent teaching abilities, experience in setting up a curriculum and the ability to further expand the link between teaching and research. He or she must be a team player and have good leadership and management abilities. A good command of the English language at an academic level is a requirement. Candidates who do not speak Dutch are expected to have sufficient knowledge of the Dutch language within three years.
