The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) is looking to recruit a full-time senior exhibitions designer to work in Doha, Qatar.
The senior exhibitions designer will conceptualise, design, develop, document and provide design and technical expertise in the design and installation of exhibitions at MIA. The successful candidate will use a variety of display and interpretive approaches, fabrication materials and processes to most effectively develop “world class” visitor experiences while maintaining existing aesthetic and conservation standards throughout the museum.

This will be the MIA’s first internal exhibition design appointment and the successful candidate will be expected to work with the exhibitions department’s senior management team in further developing the exhibition design team and offer.

The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in creating interpretive exhibitions for museums or similar organisations, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Museum Studies or a 3D-related design field or the equivalent experience.

The MIA exhibitions department is managed by the head of exhibitions, and is part of the MIA collections division, overseen by the deputy director collections. The division also includes the collections, conservation, galleries, curatorial and research departments.
