As a model maker, you will be responsible for producing high quality models, prototypes and mock-ups, as well as preparing a wide range of exhibition and presentation material.
Reporting to the workshop manager, you’ll work both independently and as part of a small team on a variety of small and medium sized model making projects. Working in a safe manner at all times, you’ll analyse architectural drawings and produce high quality and accurate models. You’ll provide assistance to the sketch model technician, as well as unloading and storing materials within the workshop.
To be considered for this exciting role, you must have:
– good 2D CAD and basic 3D CAD skills
– strong model making skills
– good knowledge of workshop machinery, including circular saws, band saws, pillar drills, sanding discs, laser cutters, lathes and mills, and the ability to use machinery within health and safety guidelines
– an understanding of architectural drawings and the ability to decipher information from them
– at a minimum, an HND (ideally a degree) or equivalent experience
Self-motivated and creative, as a model maker, you must be highly organised with the resilience to manage conflicting demands and prioritise your workload. An accurate approach is key, as are solid communication skills.
