The Aarhus School of Architecture invites applications for a professorship MSO in habitation. The Aarhus School of Architecture has chosen to prioritize habitation as one of the school’s three society-related focus areas. With this focus area the Aarhus School of Architecture wants to focus on the potential of architecture to create meaningful settings for contemporary living. What is, for instance, the impact of demographic patterns of development and the continued migration towards urbanised areas on social relations, the composition of the housing stock and the design of dwellings? How can architecture help support an everyday life characterised by flexible work situations and increased mobility? How can developing urban and dwelling typologies create space for interaction and activity?

When employed, the professor will be given responsibility for developing the focus area of habitation through dialogue with the academic staff of the Aarhus School of Architecture. He or she must strengthen the profile of the focus area through his or her own research or artistic development work, and help draw up research applications and build relevant professional networks. A further area of responsibility will be to develop and contribute to teaching within the focus area at all levels from Bachelor’s degree programmes to Master’s degree programmes to supplementary and researcher training programmes.
